One of the big advantages of playing golf in Hurghada is that you're not going to have too many days when you have to get the waterproofs out and put your umbrella up.
You can also take advantage of the opportunity to escape the British winter and the cold dark mornings, and play golf in the sunshine all year round.
Golf abroad is an experience that every true golfer needs to experience. Before you go, that little bit of excitement usually results in giving your clubs an extra clean before packing them into your travel holdall for the journey ahead.
Pick a good holdall because as we're sure you can imagine, airport baggage handlers are far less sympathetic to your clubs than you are when loading them into the boot of your car.
Golf Courses in Hurghada
The golf in Hurghada is within easy reach of the town centre so you don't have to travel far from your hotel to enjoy some of the fabulous golf on offer. The only links course in the country, the Cascades of Soma Bay, is well known for having fantastic views across the Red Sea and it's worth taking your camera along as well.
An 18 hole course spread out over a challenger 6700 yard layout (par 72), the course is relatively easy off the tee but extremely challenging around the greens.
As you'd expect for a country largely covered in desert, there is plenty of sand on the course, but you'll be relieved to hear this takes the form of over 70 bunkers. Facilities at the course are excellent and you can hire a buggy which is a great way to avoid the heat of the sunshine.
The other course that is worth exploring is the Steigenberger Golf Resort which is very popular. This is located in the El Gouna part of the Hurghada region and is a bit longer than the Cascades (at 6900 yards) with a par of 74. Attached to a hotel, this is probably the better option if you plan to bring the rest of the family along as there is more for them to do whilst you chase the little white ball around the green field!
